Central Ohio Rank and File Educators (CORE) is an open-affiliate caucus because the wins we need will not be won alone. Since April 2025 the Ohio legislature has:
ripped away academic freedom and collective bargaining rights from all higher education union members
gutted public education funding by over 2.5 billion dollars
expanded the voucher system
removed elected board members from the State Teachers Retirement Systems and replaced them with political appointees
removed 11 elected state Board of Education members and replaced them with 5 political appointees.
All the while, our union leaders have done nothing.
CORE is fighting back. We are dedicated to using our organized labor to fight for what the people of Ohio deserve: fully and fairly funded public schools, collective bargaining rights, justice and protections for our members, students, and communities, and academic freedom.
